You can’t start the next chapter if you …

If only I could …

If only I could …

Fill in the blank for your sweet self.

What comes to mind? What is it that you find yourself saying, “If only I could …” about?

Here’s a thought: What if you could?

Hey, maybe you do already.

Wait! Here’s an even more powerful thought: Why not NOW?

Instead of ending with “if only” how about adding “why not now?” and then see what happens to your mindset.

‘Why not now?’ is a powerful mindset

Here’s an example from working with one of my clients recently:

She completed the sentence this way – “If only I could feel better about myself.” We added “Why not now?”

Then we brainstormed ways she absolutely could begin to feel better about herself. Now. Today. This week.

She came up with a list of 25 powerful, fun, short, easy, crazy, mundane, silly, wonderful ways she could feel better about herself now.

Get started with brainstorming

Here are a few of them:

  • Smile at herself in the mirror when getting ready in the morning;
  • Hug her husband and think about how good it feels to be married to him;
  • Find one thing about her home she loves and take a moment to feel gratitude for it;
  • Strike a pose (or two) when she puts on her favorite outfit;
  • Ask a friend to name 3 things they like about her;
  • Take a look at her ‘dreaded tummy’ and instead of feeling bad about it, come up with at least one positive thing about her stomach;
  • Sigh (preferably loudly) when needed throughout the day to release built up tension;
  • Practice saying NO when she notices that she’s feeling guilt instead of eagerness about helping;
  • Spend just 5 minutes looking at photos that are saved on her computer and her camera and everywhere in between (no organization needed, just enjoy looking at them).

Her list grew and grew as she discovered that she didn’t have to hold out for some future day to feel good about herself.

How joyful is that?!

What’s YOUR “If only I could …” statement?

What are you waiting for?

I invite you to add “Why not now?” and then begin your own brainstorming to bring IT – whatever it is – into the present. Begin today.

Share your ideas. And if you want to, I can help you brainstorm creative ways to bring YOUR fulfilling life to you NOW instead of holding it out there in the distant future.

Here’s to your NOW,
